Burlington enjoys a day of service

According to the official government web site there were more than 150 opportunities for residents in New Jersey to volunteer for the first annual MLK Day of Service. The opportunities ranged from cleaning offices and picking up litter to book drives, art shows, prayer breakfasts and gospel singing performances.

One of the most inspired listings came from Burlington, New Jersey where Sisterhood, Inc. offered an art show for children, an oral history exhibition for adults and a spaghetti luncheon for the community.

It's activities like these that help residents take pride in their communities. For one day they stand shoulder to shoulder with their neighbors to make a difference. Some take the call to action further and volunteer with service clubs or ongoing causes.
